For avid cyclists, here is a list of tips that may come in handy when planning your holiday in our area. We have tried most of them personally, so don’t worry! 🙂
Circuit around Macha Lake :
This relaxing cycling trail leads largely along a little-traveled road around Lake Macha and in warm weather you can combine the trip with swimming. But even in spring and autumn, Lake Macha has its charm, when the beaches are not crowded with people, especially at this time of year. From our hotel, you will take a quiet forest path to the parking lot of the train station in Doksy and the so called famous gate of the main beach. On your left you will have a railway crossing, where you take the left path and go through the forest following the red tourist sign to Stary Splavy. There you can make a detour along the green tourist marker to the New Pond.
From Staré Splavy you will pass through pine forests around Máchovo jezero on the road leading towards Doksy. The first 2 km are unmarked on the road, then you stick to cycle route 3045 and the last 2 km before Doksy cycle route 25. At the beginning of Doksy, turn right to get to the camp Bílý kámen, behind it there is another camp – Klůček with a nearby beach of the same name, from Klůček camp you can get back to the hotel along the main road and left where you join the road from where you started.

It is a sports and tourist trip for the whole family in the beautiful nature of the Macha Region. Thanks to electric scooters you will see and do a lot and you will not be so tired! The whole trip is organized by the company DAVEBIKE, s.r.o.
Your trip starts at the parking lot of the Bezděz railway station. This place is about halfway between Mladá Boleslav and Česká Lípa. Upon arrival, we will familiarize you with the controls and operation of the scooter. After the briefing, you will go through a warm-up ride and set off to meet your adventure. First you will have a small hill, you will reach the village of Bezděz, where you will see Bezděz Castle. Follow the cycle path around the castle and in the distance you will see the huge Máchovo Lake, which you will be able to see up close. On the way we will stop at some of the viewpoints. There will be plenty of refreshment places along the route that you can use or we will prepare snacks for you.
You’ll weave through the village of Doksy, pass the local castle, and head on your way. After crossing the main road we have a less touristy area ahead of us. Here we will enjoy the free movement on scooters and beautiful nature. We will reach the former Tubožský mill, where we will rest for a while before the following climb up to Houska Castle. Houska Castle will be our reward for the previous trip. There is an opportunity to visit the viewpoint of Říp and the local caves. From Houska you will have a small downhill and again climb up to the highest point of your expedition – the lookout tower on Vrátenská hora, from which you can see very well into the wide surroundings. After you have had a good bath, you can look forward to a long descent through the beautiful countryside. For the last few kilometres you will enjoy an easy ride on the flat road between local fields and when you reach the cars your trip will end.
The trip is not physically demanding and is suitable for children over 12 years of age. It is recommended to bring cycling or sunglasses against flying insects, bike gloves and a snack. Refreshments are also available at the rest stops that line the entire tour. The length of the trip is 5-8 hours, depending on the number of stops, speed, etc. You can look forward to an unforgettable driving experience, beautiful nature and great fun and great memories!
The Legend of the King’s Seat
The name King’s Table is related to the monarch Charles IV., who rode into the Docklands from the nearby Bezděz castle with his retinue to hunt. He liked the rock block very much and often rested on it. A bench and a table were carved on the rock for the king, the table top was bravely smoothed, the throne and legs richly decorated. Emperor Charles IV had a nice view of the Great Pond (later called Lake Macha), which is now largely limited by tall trees. After Charles’s death, the place fell into disrepair, hostile invasions and the action of the elements took their toll, and so the King’s Table was preserved only in human memory.
From the eastern edge of the village of Doksy, where you will find a playground in Kuřivodská Street, you will go through the pine forest along the green tourist trail. After a while the signpost will show you the way to a small sandstone hill. A pleasant walk to the “King’s Table” can be used, for example, by families with children spending their summer holidays at Lake Mácha. The route can also be followed with an all-terrain buggy, which will take you to the bottom of the rock.
